A. No. Most students come to the classes with no prior knowledge. Philosophy means the love of wisdom. Our practical philosophy courses are tailored for everyday people from all walks of life who would like to put the words of the wise into practice. Meditation is introduced with a short and simple awareness exercise.

A. All of our tutors are students of practical philosophy. They give their time voluntarily to pass on what they’ve learnt.

A. The classes take the form of discussion and inquiry into a particular aspect of philosophy introduced at that class. The tutor leads and facilitates these discussions allowing the students to explore the topic, concepts and questions presented.

A. Each week you'll receive a handout of quotations from the class material. This is often enough for people to consider over the week ahead. If desired, there is also plenty of extra reading available to explore the writers and philosophers more fully.

Yes and no. There is no formal homework. However, given this is the practical study of philosophy, students are encouraged to put what is discussed into practice, observe its effect and value. These learnings based on your own experience can then be shared with the class the following week.
